Lucy Bates - staff spotlight
Date: 09/10/2017
Here at Bulldog Security Products we take great pride in our tradition of being a family-run firm.
The values we established when the company was launched 30 years ago are just as important today as we continue to expand our operation.
In the latest of our staff profile blogs we turn the spotlight on Lucy Bates - the third generation of our founder Ray Jordan’s family who is helping to keep Bulldog at the top of our industry.
Lucy said: “I joined Bulldog when I was 17 on a part-time basis, I was still at college at the time so that suited me just fine.
“My nan and grandad are the founders of Bulldog so when I was younger I would often come to work with my grandad and help with the packing over at the factory.
“In June 2014 I joined full-time as a sales & marketing assistant. I set up our social media sites, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, and worked to raise the company’s profile in these areas.
“I also organise sales packs for dealers, work jointly with Simone on our advertising and product videos and organise our price books, data/instruction leaflets and flyers - I can often be seen running across our yard with a camera in my hand working on our latest release.
“During the last 18 months I have been learning different aspects of the company, from stock control to purchase ordering. I would probably describe myself as more like a runner for Bulldog…if anyone needs ANYTHING doing it can usually be found piled on my desk!
“But I enjoy not knowing what each day will bring, every day is different which makes coming to work enjoyable. We have a great working environment here and everyone bounces off each other and helps out with anything that has to be done when needed. At the moment I am enjoying learning about all the different aspects of the business.
“In my free time I enjoy socialising with friends and you can very often find me down my local! I also help my boyfriend some evenings and weekends with his game-keeping duties.
“Most recently I took part in a Colour Run for Severn Hospice and raised a fair amount of money for a great charity! I am now looking into doing the 5km mud run.
“I was born into the Bulldog brand and cannot imagine my future without Bulldog. My cousin Andy and I are the only two out of all the grandchildren to work for the company, so between us it will eventually be our job to maintain the great reputation my family has worked so hard to build.
“Our staff are a major part of that process of course and most have been with us for a very long time. That ensures pride in the workplace which can only help our success. We have all bought into the Bulldog philosophy of quality products and exceptional service to our customers.
“The target is to ensure business growth and work towards moving the company forward in the future ready for the generation that follows. The Bulldog spirit is alive and well and living in Much Wenlock.”
